Splicing dark shards of lyricism with the raw guitar sounds that makes you clench your teeth and bob your head and the occassional airy pique of brilliance qualifies archers of loaf well for band of the week honors. The archers are pure indie rock. they, with several top-notch albums, etched a place among the top indie bands, they are parallel to pavement, superchunk, fugazi, jawbreaker, etc. Archers no longer reign in loaf-land, but we can still listen to their soothing sweetly soft/hard shards of songs, like Vee Vee’s “Harnessed In Slums”.
